Founder's Message
Dear Fellow Consumers,
I have served the electric power industry for over forty years. This period was transformative in the sense that electric, gas and telecommunication industries were deregulated with the intent to benefit household customers by opening the door to competition.
Yet, I watched as many households failed to reap the full benefits of competitive markets. Some people didn't fully understand how to take advantage of deregulation, and others simply lacked any innovative support to help them capitalize on it. The promise of lower bills and better service remained unfulfilled for too many.
It pained me to see big corporate profits rising while ordinary people struggled with overpriced bills. I knew we needed a new approach. Then one night, I had a dream of a different future — of people uniting to form a powerful consumer union, one million members strong.
In that dream, the tables were turned. Instead of household customers chasing the best deals, it was giant corporations vying for their business - competing to offer the lowest rates to win over our million-strong union. Imagine that: companies actually bidding to give you a better price on your monthly bills!
Now, the big question is: can we join hands and make this dream come true? I believe we can. If we convince one million people to stand together, we'll gain the collective bargaining power to negotiate deals that no individual could achieve alone. After all, unions empower employees to secure better wages and conditions — why shouldn't we consumers unite for better prices and services?
With a united membership a million strong, we can demand better deals on virtually all of our household bills.
